In this column Knight's used two strategies that stood out to me. Those being analogy and senecdoche. He used those strategies to but emphasis in the sculptures and give the reader a clear and refined image of the sculptures. He uses analogy to compare a sculpture to an egg. He want the reader to imagine the sculpture to be similar to the shape of an egg. He also hopes to let the reader know that the artist is able to achieve the desired shape without having an obstacle involving the materials being used. Knight uses senecdoches to change the meaning of "curves" ,"body", and "arms". He is using these strategy to give a clear view of how the sculpture was made to look like. It's not necessarily a body part, but it is something that is being used to represent a body part. He compares areas of the sculpture to be like rounded "curves", thick "body" and small "arms". Not necessarily being the exact meaning.
