Nicholas Kristof in the column/video "What does a a refugee look like", explains how Trumps change of attitude to wards accepting refugees, affect refugees around the world. Kristof supports his claim by first giving examples and showing a videos regarding a young girl and the danger that she lives among. He then inform in the kind of crisis that can be brought up because The United States changed its attitude towards accepting refugees. Lastly, Kristof encourages people to watch Elena's story and to understand what she and her family are going through. Kristof purpose is to bring awareness regarding refugees and danger in other countries, in order to open the eyes of American citizens who are living in glory compare to a young girl living in constant danger. The author writes in a very concern and worried tone. This work is significant because the young girl is from my home country. I lef the country for different reasons but it still impact me greatly. My entire family lives in Honduras and it worries me, to know that gangs uphold the laws in a very small country. I hope that Honduras can once again be a peaceful country it once was before.
Kristof in his column "what does a refugee looks like" appeals to pathos. He uses videos technology to share the story of a young girl who is suffering in her home country. She is seeking refuge in The United States but the new President refuses to give them refugee. "prick our conscience when we turn our backs on them." He is able to appeal to emotion while sharing the girls story, simply because it is sorry and worrisome. He was also able to use anecdote by sharing the young girl's story "Watch Elena’s story." He was able to bring someone else's prospective into the picture and have a point of view of someone who need refuge and someone who needs help. He was able to appeal to me by using those strategies, and he was able to give off a great impact to me. It was very sad seeing that the person sharing their story was from Honduras, the country in which I was born.
